Portrait of a young Shemp
This is my newly completed watercolor portrait of a young Shemp Howard (Samuel Horwitz) circa mid-1920's:
Shemp had the most expressive hair in show business -- even when not having his head ironed in an industrial pants press! Someone on Etsy is selling a vintage still Shemp inscribed to Hal Roach. Out of my price range I'm afraid, but I'm gratified that such things are still treasured. You can see it here.
I am reminded of Oscar Wilde.

ReplyDelete"Beautiful" isn't a word that one would normally apply to a portrait of Shemp Howard, but that adjective is perfectly appropriate in this case.
