The Return Of The Stuff That Dreams Are Made Of |
This is my cover art for the just released 2-CD box set collection from Yazoo Records, The RETURN Of THE STUFF THAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF...
http://www.amazon.com/Return-Stuff-That-Dreams-Made/dp/B008PDAFS6
... the follow-up to 2005's original 2-CD box set, which featured a cover by none other than rabid 78 Blues, Jazz and Country record collector Robert Crumb. Like the first collection, the 2-CD set features super rarities, unused gems, and classic blues and country music from the 1920s and 30s, as well as a 54 page booklet filled with photos. My cover depicts 2 lunatic hipster 78 collectors at a record show, fighting over a rare 78... to the death.

I can't decide which I like better. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteHah!--their hats! Love the record-boxes perspective, wrinkles everywhere, and violence.
ReplyDeleteLove your work and have been a fan for years but these guys aren't what record fiends look like. They're Hipsters. Hipsters don't go after these records because they know nothing about this music. The disheveled creeps in the background are more like it.
ReplyDeleteJim, I have to agree with you, but this is what the producer of the CD compilation wanted. I wanted to draw 2 overweight, disheveled older guys. Alas...
ReplyDeletenice cover..on the down side, most of music is about, if ya look hard enough..well done anyway!
ReplyDeleteDisheveled record loonies, yes, but how do you also convey the bad hygiene and body odour?
ReplyDeleteIt would have to be in Sniff-o-rama like that old John Waters movie!
